MayBe Skeletal RainBow
C93’s David Tibet & Andrew Liles reframe parts of 2014’s ‘I am the Last of all the Field That Fell’ in stripped down revisions for tapes, keys, harpsichord and ghosts.
Part of a 5 x LP series coinciding with C93’s recent London & Hastings shows, ‘May be Skeletal Rainbow’ offers new perspectives on the songs ‘Spring Sand Dreamt Larks/With the Dromedaries’ and ‘The Invisible Church/Kings and Things’ unique to this record.
The A-side ripples out on cool night air in waves of piquant harpsichord and Tibet’s captivating, if ludicrous, lyrics about smoking cigs and doing whizz, and whatever else, whereas the B-side is pungent as a jasmine night garden in its enchanted mesh of melodies and a particularly melodramatic Tibet.
Not everyone’s cup of tea, and all the better for it.
