Yasuaki Shimizu

‘Kiren’ is a formerly “lost” album dating from 1984 from Japanese saxophonist and composer Yasuaki Shimizu. Recorded with his regular collaborators Aki Ikuta and Morio Watanabe, it’s a hugely diverse collection of experimental but fundamentally dance-orientated music, as befitting his status as a key mover in Japan’s new wave scene of the early Eighties. Comes with liner notes by music historian Chee Shimizu (no relation).
