Rush’s self-titled debut introduces the Canadian trio with a raw, blues-rock–driven sound rooted in heavy riffs, extended jams, and high-energy performances. Fronted by Geddy Lee’s piercing vocals and powered by Alex Lifeson’s gritty guitar work and John Rutsey’s hard-hitting drums, the album leans more toward early hard rock than the progressive style the band would soon define.
