Naïm Amor, Kid Congo Powers
Tuscon Safari
In The Red Recordings (itr386)
Release date: Nov 15, 2025, United States of America (the)
Naïm Amor and Kid Congo Powers first crossed paths in Tucson, Arizona just before the pandemic. During lockdown, Amor began developing long-held ideas that fused rockabilly and garage-inspired guitar with drum machines and synth bass, drawing on the raw electricity of Link Wray and Suicide. After sketching a few tracks, he invited Kid Congo to join, sparking a series of guitar “dialogues.”
Tucson Safari captures the interplay between two distinctive players, their styles colliding and entwining across a set of vivid, exploratory compositions. Amor’s melodic sensibility threads through the fuzz-soaked, sliding tones of Kid Congo, creating music that balances grit with atmosphere, structure with spontaneity. It’s a meeting of restless imaginations, mapping out a sonic terrain that’s both playful and unpredictable.
