Suns Of Arqa – Acid Tabla (Emotional Rescue)
Suns Of Arqa – Acid Tabla (Emotional Rescue)
Mixing raga with dub reggae, while the prolific Suns Of Arqa mostly appeared on their own Arka Sound label they found a kindred spirit in On-U-Sound’s Adrian Sherwood, who produced both the original tracks here alongside Suns founder Michael Wadada. Uptempo steppers, Sherwood provides a more dancefloor friendly version of lead cut ‘Acid Tabla’, taken from the group’s 1979 debut album 'Revenge Of The Mozambites', beefing up the drums and bass around the Indian classical breakdown. The more simmering, stripped down ‘Asian Rebels’, first released on Cherry Red’s 1981 compilation 'Wild Party Sounds Vol. One', then gets an even deeper dub from Brian Hyphen, Suns Of Arqa’s original keyboard player. \n \n
