C Cat Trance – Screaming Ghosts (Emotional Rescue)

C Cat Trance were formed by John Rees Lewis, formerly singer in Nottingham band Medium Medium. While the latter dealt in post-punk and art rock, C Cat Trance incorporated Middle Eastern and African influences into a tribal, percussive sound sound that still retained a punk edge. \n \n‘Screaming Ghosts’, this comp from Emotional Rescue, collects together highlights from their six EPs and four albums with previously unreleased tracks. From ‘Shake The Mind’, a New Beat classic and club favourite, to the sax-led swell of ‘Take Me To The Beach’, its rich and complex, while tracks such as ‘Dalbouka’ are forerunners for the kind of club music being made by the likes of DJ Plead today. \n \n
