Gunshot
Gunshot - Patriot Games (Vinyl Solution)
The sad death of Gunshot’s MC Alkaline earlier this year didn’t receive nearly enough coverage, given the incendiary force of the East London group whose high speed rapping and sample-heavy sound helped launch Britcore in the early ‘90s. \n \nAs the name of their debut album suggests, Gunshot - aka main MCs Mercury and Alkaline, DJ White Child Rix and collaborator Barry Blue – set out to create a sound that was distinctly UK. Rapping in recognisably London accents, their music, though echoing the discordant energy of Public Enemy, also built on Vinyl Solution’s history of breakbeat hardcore. \n \nThe result is powerfully heavy and claustrophobic, deeply textured with scratches, sounds and socially conscious lyrics that come thick and fast. \n \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTy_kDzOQ1c&ab_channel=UndergroundCulture
