CS + Kreme – Orange (The Trilogy Tapes)
Australia has a long history of experimental electronic music and Melbourne’s CS + Kreme continue the tradition with their second album for Will Bankhead’s Trilogy Tapes. \n \nDespite the duo’s metropolitan surrounds, opener ‘Bassline’ sounds like it's a wander through the outback, a heat haze of ancient spirits and vast open space. And quickly possession takes hold. ‘Shred’ is skittish and confused as it flickers in and out of focus, while ‘Voice of the Spider’ is fractured (punk)funk and ‘Pink Mist’ lounge music from deep within a k-hole. \n \nThen ‘Mandarin’ is a bridge, its jazzy piano progression leading back to some kind of normalcy while still hinting at the discordance around. Vocalist Bridget St John leads ‘Would You Like a Vampire’, dark, swirling pop that casts off the digital manipulation for raw, straight-up emotion. And ‘Storm Rips Banana Tree’ drifts through ambient breeze into a gathering system of chaos, signing off with a sense of gathering foreboding. \n \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVPRtNXGLmI&ab_channel=CS%2BKreme-Topic \n \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH0kub45wlU&ab_channel=CS%2BKreme-Topic \n \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fO_XVU63vbg&ab_channel=CS%2BKreme-Topic \n \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig6fRqiVJxs&ab_channel=CS%2BKreme-Topic \n \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yR6Z_u2x8D8&ab_channel=CS%2BKreme-Topic \n \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbVwIeFINP4&ab_channel=CS%2BKreme-Topic \n \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDNlIllzYlo&t=2s&ab_channel=CS%2BKreme-Topic
